Who Are You (please include a picture):
I’ve been a homebrewer since:
In theory: 1992. In reality March 2012
Do you have a homebrewing disaster you’d like to share?
My second batch in 1992 ended in 24 bottle bombs showering my garage in glass and beer.
What is your favorite style(s) to brew?
I am too new to have a favorite style to brew
What style(s) will you never brew?
I can’t see myself doing any decoctions at this point, but hey who knows.
What was the first beer you ever brewed? How did it turn out?
In 1992, it was an English Ale and it was not good. I drank about half of the batch, no one else would touch it. In my newest incarnation as a brewer, it was an American Pale Ale and it was really good.
Have you ever had a homebrew mistake that turned out great?
I am sure any good beer I’ve made so far was by mistake!!
What is your favorite beer recipe?
I am still an extract brewer, for now.
Do you have a favorite homebrew trick or gadget that you’ve found to make your beer better/brewing easier, etc?
A pencil and a piece of paper to take notes.
Describe your brew system.
Today it is an 8 gallon kettle and a Cajun Cooker. I am gathering parts and have started to build a two tier, hybrid gas/electric RIMS system. See I am a gadget guy and this is a gadget hobby.
How frequently do you brew (times/month or /year)?
About twice per month right now.
Do you have a good homebrew club story you’d like to share?
Running into Scott in Tri-State just by chance the day before a meeting at Hops & Holler
What haven’t we asked that you would really like to answer?
Is it the beer or the DYI gadgets that have you hooked? The answer is I don’t know and I don’t care.
If you could serve your homebrew to someone famous, who would it be and what would you give her/him?
Do you brew alone, with friends or with someone you live with?
With anyone who will help and is willing to listen to Irish Rock (don’t ask why)
Are you an indoor or outdoor brewer?
Since cauisng $350 in damage to the wife’s counter tops on my third batch, I am outside.
Is there anything else that you would like to share?
Within two months of starting this hobby I had a keezer built with two wall mounted taps in my basement bar.
