I came across the pic from our February brew out again today and it really illustrates how we have grown when you look at the group photo from June. Since our creation in January we have gone from 2 members to over forty, in only about 7 months! This shows that we have a vibrant and growing homebrewing culture in Northern Kentucky and I am glad that our club is here to help steward the craft.
If you haven’t done so already, sign up on the forums to discuss all things homebrewing and chime in on upcoming events being planned. If you have a question about recipes, ingredients, equipment, procedures or anything else, this is the place to get an answer or to give one.
As the club continues to grow we will continue to have our monthly brew outs but we are also going to start educational sessions and try to schedule more social activities (happy hours, brewery visits, festivals), as well as continue to push our brewers to enter local and regional competitions to get feedback on their beer. We are participating in the AHA Club Only Competitions that are judged by our BJCP and experienced judges and other volunteers – these competitions focus on a particular style and give our brewers a chance to brew a new style or to hone in an existing recipe.
If you have never been to a meeting you are missing out! Our meetings are very laid back and casual but we always learn something from each other and have a ton of fun! Don’t be intimidated if you are new to brewing or are shy – we have brewers from all skill levels and each is always welcoming and always willing to help any way they can.If you haven’t joined us yet – get involved and help us grow and advance homebrewing in NKY.
I want to offer my sincerest gratitude to those who have helped get this club off of the ground and to those who are active members who come to the brew outs, social outings and participate in the forums. It is because of you that this club has been such a success in it’s infancy. There is no doubt that we will continue to grow and mature to be a valuable social club and informational resource for the homebrewers of Northern Kentucky. I have personally learned something from many of you already and look forward to learning much more and sharing many more great homebrews.
